Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.
Just pick your favorite exercises from this list and start doing them regularly to keep your muscles long, lean, and flexible!
Tips for beginners
Hold each position from 30 seconds up to 2 minutes. If you can, extend it even further!
Breathing:
4 seconds inhale with the nose
8 seconds exhale form the mouth
5 breaths = 60 seconds or 1 minute
10 breaths = 120 seconds or 2 minutes
